Peter Drake has been commissioned by MTA Arts For Transit to create site-specific
public art for the Long Island Rail Road Massapequa Station, Massapequa New
York.
Drake's proposal evokes timeless scenes of waiting for trains to arrive with toy figures representing rail customers, a bright sky, rows of hedges and local details.
Drake will be collaborating with artisans at Glasmalerei Peters Studio in Paderborn, Germany and Mosaika Art and Design in Montreal, Canada.
MTA Arts For Transit is among the nation's largest public art programs and covers the Metropolitan NYC area.
